Justin Greaves hit an outstanding 202 not out as West Indies managed a draw with their second highest fourth innings total ever in Christchurch on day five. This included sharing in a 196 run seventh wicket stand with Kemar Roach to ensure victory.
New Zealand pace bowler Jacob Duffy captured 5-42, becoming the first Black Caps bowler ever to take more than five wickets in three consecutive Tests during the New Zealand National Cricket Team Vs West Indies Cricket Team Match Scorecard series.

Justin Greaves’ maiden double century and Kemar Roach’s resilience helped West Indies avoid defeat against New Zealand in the inaugural Test at Christchurch. Greaves was described by his captain as having scored an “Herculean” innings; together they shared an unbroken 180-run seventh wicket stand with Roach (48 off 384 balls) which enabled West Indies to post a record 531 win after New Zealand were skittled for just 167 in their first innings.
Jacob Duffy took five wickets as New Zealand bowled out West Indies for 286 in their second innings before reducing them to 67-3 before rain ended play and play resumed.
The second Test will start at Wellington on 9 December; West Indies player Tion Seifert fractured a finger during one ODI and had to miss further matches, so Mitchell Hay was called up as his replacement and made his debut as part of Mitchell Hay’s replacement squad.

New Zealand skipper Tom Latham became only the fifth Kiwi ever to reach 6,000 Test runs when New Zealand defeated West Indies by an innings and 66 runs at Wellington on Wednesday.
An ineffective New Zealand bowling attack, without several frontline seamers such as Jacob Duffy or Devon Conway/Kane Williamson being frontline seamers themselves, managed to reduce West Indies to just 128 runs before easily sailing to victory – Jacob Duffy earning five wickets while Devon Conway/Kane Williamson also contributed well for New Zealand while Jacob Duffy collected five-wicket hauls himself while Devon Conway/Kane Williamson contributed useful contributions towards New Zealand victory.
Justin Greaves had earlier scored his maiden double century while Kemar Roach showed remarkable resilience by compiling a career-best 202 not out as hosts reached target with two wickets remaining on day four. Greaves’s partnership of 180 between himself, Shai Hope and Roach salvaged Windies from early collapse on day four and saved their victory bid.

New Zealand completed their 2-0 series win against West Indies with an emphatic triumph in Mount Maunganui’s third Test, the Black Caps accumulated an imposing total of 575-8 declared before setting West Indies an equally daunting target of 462 for victory on the final day.
Openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway each scored double centuries as their side took an early advantage – it marked the first time two batsmen had scored centuries in each of their innings!
Responding, the tourists struggled to maintain the required rate and quickly fell from 87-0 to 112-8 either side of lunch. While showing some resistance in post-lunch sessions, Shai Hope was bowled by Ajaz Patel for a duck before Roston Chase was bowled by Corey Anderson; New Zealand then ran through their tail with paceman Jacob Duffy taking five wickets as paceman.
West Indies opener Evin Lewis made a valiant effort to save their innings but was caught behind for 97 off 388 balls as any hope of avoiding an emphatic defeat became increasingly unlikely. Lewis shared an 180-run seventh wicket stand with Kemar Roach – who scored his career best 58 not out before Greaves declared on 457-6.

Tom Latham scored a double century to help New Zealand defeat West Indies by 323 runs to take victory in Christchurch for their inaugural Test series win. Latham became only the sixth batsman ever to reach 6,000 Test runs – joining Australia’s Steve Smith (6000 in total).
Devon Conway became first New Zealand batter ever to score both a century and double century simultaneously while Jacon Duffy took 23 wickets over three matches of this three-match series.
West Indies collapsed on the final day in Mount Maunganui, losing 10 wickets either side of lunch. Resuming on 43-0 after lunch, they quickly went from 87-0 to 112-8 before duffy and spinner Ajaz Patel shared in taking their remaining wickets to secure an emphatic victory for themselves and Ajaz Patel shared any others that fell.
West Indies captain Shai Hope battled hard to avoid defeat, scoring his maiden double century before falling lbw to Tevin Imlach during the fourth session in the New Zealand National Cricket Team Vs West Indies Cricket Team Match Scorecard.
Greaves and Kemar Roach performed admirably to post their highest fourth innings total in over 80 years; unfortunately, they were eventually dismissed for 459. Hope was named Man of the Match.
