The game was filled with incredible plays like fake punts, deep passes as well as incredible plays such as fake punts as well.
At halftime, Georgia led 21-12. But then came an amazing turnaround for the Rebels when Georgia running back Kewan Lacy lost his footing on his way to scoring and cornerback Daylen Everette recovered it at their own 20-yard line – giving the Rebels an advantage they would eventually capitalize upon with an amazing three yard touchdown pass to De’Zhaun Stribling giving them a 24-21 advantage.
Ole Miss earned their way into the Rose Bowl to face No. 10 Miami on January 9 and advance toward playing in 2026 National Championship Game. Gunner Stockton stood out as one of the Bulldogs’ shining lights, completing 18-of-31 passes for 204 yards and one touchdown in an otherwise turbulent game. Under constant pressure throughout, Stockton still made timely plays to secure victory late.
With two minutes remaining in the game, Georgia had an opportunity to tie it through a field goal but were unable to convert on fourth and 2 on their own 30-yard line and instead punted it out of bounds.
The Bulldogs’ hopes for a comeback were dashed when their defensive unit disintegrated due to three penalties and JaCorey Thomas was ejected for targeting Ole Miss receiver Cayden Lee.
Following this miscue, Ole Miss marched downfield quickly on their first possession in the second half, running short runs into field goal range before Lucas Carniero scored a 47-yard field goal to give Ole Miss a 27-24 edge.
Kewan Lacy

After previously competing for Missouri Tigers in 2024 and 2025 respectively, Lacy made the switch over to Ole Miss and has made an immediate impactful contribution rushing 108 yards on this season as part of Ole Miss’ offensive arsenal and was integral in their Sugar Bowl victory against Georgia; leading his team currently in terms of rushing yards.

In the final minutes of this game, both sides experienced intense anxiety. Following an unsuccessful kickoff attempt by Georgia, and after it hit a single-hand pylon after Georgia attempted a last-ditch lateral, officials declared a safety ruling without changing their original ruling. This call proved controversial among fans due to not witnessing how close to one hand it hit it was hit; nevertheless they refused to overrule their earlier decision.
Rebels defense held Georgia to 29 points, marking a huge improvement from previous seasons. Led by linebacker Raylen Wilson who made several key tackles and displayed strong pass rush capabilities. Georgia still remain dangerous contenders come playoff time; especially if their offensive performance improves.
Luke Hasz
Georgia rebounded after an underwhelming first half to launch into an impressive second-quarter performance, using their running game to generate big plays and score two touchdowns to take an early lead in this matchup. Ole Miss had multiple key contributors who were crucial in their victory against Georgia Bulldogs, but tight end Luke Hasz was especially significant. Hasz is a graduate transfer from Bixby, Oklahoma and had a productive 2025-26 season despite occasional foot issues which hindered him at times. Although last season wasn’t what was anticipated he feels fulfilled being back at Oxford learning from fellow tight ends Dae’Quan Wright and Michael Smith.
Hasz was an integral component of Arkansas’ offensive attack as a freshman, catching 25 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns while earning All-SEC and All-American honors as a sophomore. Due to injuries, Hasz is excited for another opportunity in 2026-27.

Georgia eventually found their rhythm in the second quarter and began controlling the clock, however their defense allowed Ole Miss to score late in the third quarter and they lost control of the game.
Georgia was outshone in its bowl game return after five consecutive losses since 2014 Peach Bowl, falling 2-6 all-time and suffering its first top-10 team defeat since then.
