Denmark National Football Team vs England National Football Team Standings

England put the ball out to Saka, who dribbles into space before shooting wide of goal – an encouraging sign from their hosts.

Jonas Wind and Viktor Kristiansen connect for Damsgaard and Bah, but Denmark still pose a threat; Bukayo Saka ventures into the box before shooting, but Schmeichel easily gathers. The Denmark national football team vs England national football team standings highlight the competitive nature of this matchup, showcasing the ongoing battle for supremacy on the field.

Denmark

Denmark are reigning world champions, yet have yet to beat England at any major tournament. Over 22 competitive and non-competitive matches, England have come out victorious 13 times to Denmark’s 5. England came close to beating their foes during Group H of 2018 World Cup but lost on penalties against Germany instead.

Denmark have had an outstanding run in the Nations League, finishing Group B atop with six points from two wins and one draw. Their opening win against Bosnia and Herzegovina was particularly remarkable: this nation had never previously experienced victory in this competition!

Denmark have struggled since their disappointing World Cup performances of 2014 to maintain their high standards, yet remain among Europe’s most competitive teams. They finished second at 1992 European Championship, 1995 King Fahd Cup, 1998 Confederations Cup as well as reaching quarter-finals of four tournaments since 2014.

Denmark have consistently proven themselves formidable contenders at the World Cup, reaching the semi-finals on two separate occasions: 1986 and 2002. Denmark are widely renowned for their fast, attacking football style; players such as Michael Laudrup and Christian Eriksen have made indelible marks in Danish footballing history.

Morten Olsen has led the team since taking over from Richard Moller Nielsen in July 2000. During his reign, his reign has been second-most successful among full-time professional coaches; thus earning an extension to oversee 2020 World Cup qualifiers.

First half results have been goalless but England have shown signs of progress. Kieran Trippier makes his presence felt along the right flank before sending in a cross for Phil Foden who took one touch before shooting at goal; unfortunately Schmeichel was there to save easily.

England

On Thursday evening in Frankfurt, England and Denmark will collide in an eagerly anticipated Euro 2024 Group C matchup. Gareth Southgate’s side are coming off a narrow win against Serbia while Denmark lost their opener against Slovenia. These teams have met 22 times previously – 13 of those matches going in England’s favor!

Two teams are evenly matched at midway point of their groups’ competition and both boast plenty of offensive options. Both sides will be playing for top two finishes in their respective groups; the winner of this contest could advance to knockout stage while their rival may drop down into lower-ranked pot.

Both teams have averaged more than two goals per match in their last four international matches, with England’s Harry Kane scoring his first European qualifier goal since November 2016 to help defeat Serbia. Unfortunately, however, England were unable to build upon their early lead and conceded late on for an 1-1 tie against Balkan nation.

Kieran Trippier of Tottenham Hotspur was forced off due to an ankle injury shortly after halftime and will likely miss Denmark match-up. Manchester City right-back Phil Foden will likely serve as his replacement at right back.

After an ineffective start by the hosts, their midfield finally gets moving with Eriksen’s long pass finding Damsgaard just outside of the penalty area – who fires a low shot just wide of its target.

England’s Kyle Walker quickly maneuvers around Victor Kristiansen to set up Kane with an easy finish inside the penalty area that gave England the advantage. Kane was unfailing in converting this chance and giving the hosts their first goal of the match.

The visitors have struggled to gain any traction in this match and their lack of urgency in play is becoming costly. Bukayo Saka attempts to create something by darting into Denmark penalty area from right side but fails to create space and his shot goes over the bar.

England remain dangerous on the counterattack despite their lack of creativity, winning a free-kick due to Nicolai Jorgensen’s foul on Luke Shaw; England take this setpiece, with Alex Alexander-Arnold’s header blocked due to a scrum in the box.

Head-to-Head Record

Denmark are unbeaten against England at major tournaments since their two encounters, taking four points from each encounter – taking four from Copenhagen with an uninspiring draw, before beating them 1-0 at Wembley via Christian Eriksen’s penalty kick win in 2021.

Both teams have struggled to create clear-cut chances in the opening half. England have lost possession regularly and don’t appear capable of running past Denmark’s defense. Gareth Southgate tried changing things up by replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold for Conor Gallagher but his changes have had minimal effect.

After the break, Denmark have looked much more dangerous. Bukayo Saka tried his luck down the right but had two players covering him so his cross went straight out for a goal kick. Denmark then won several quick corners which saw Jonas Wind and Daniel Schmelzer try scoring but Jordan Pickford made key saves to keep their attempts out.

England made their move at the end, winning a corner with their efforts. Kieran Trippier played out to Phil Foden who took it short and attempted to turn on the edge of the box but his shot went wide. Kieran Trippier then floated it in for Rasmus Hojbjerg but his header couldn’t land properly into the area.

No team looked likely to score in the closing minutes and it ended all square. Harry Kane gave England an early advantage through his 18th minute goal but after an error by Kyle Walker allowed Morten Hjulmand an equalizer via an excellent long-range strike from Morten Hjulmand.

Both teams now hold one point from their opening two games and remain second in Group C behind Belgium by five points. England must beat Czech Republic while Denmark needs to defeat Peru while hoping that Belgians draw with Tunisia.

Predictions

England won their opening game 1-0 against Serbia and will now face the difficult challenge of stopping Christian Eriksen and his side. Gareth Southgate has plenty of firepower within his squad; and they know how to grind out tournament games when necessary; but for them to advance further they must show that they can also play more expansive football.

Early stages are tighter as both teams struggle to create clear-cut chances. Denmark are enjoying more possession, yet can’t quite find that crucial pass to open up England’s defence.

England had difficulty creating many opportunities during the first half, yet have looked much more dangerous since halftime. Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham have combined well while Declan Rice remains a threat on the right wing.

England have had limited success crossing into their opponents’ box recently. This may be due to both surface conditions, as they appear slick when running across it, and to players lacking creativity – factors which cannot be ignored when trying to secure victory in international matches.

Hojberg attempts to go in on Rice, but Real Madrid midfielder Carlos Alena quickly deceives him with an excellent tackle that leaves Hojberg stunned and the ball flying into the air before Schmeichel can grab it safely.

Eriksen then sends in a low cross for Andersen to meet, yet it goes over the bar. England are pressing more aggressively now but their attempts at progress are being blocked by some sturdy Danish defense.

Denmark defender Viktor Kristiansen falls asleep as the ball rolls by him, and Kyle Walker dashes forward to claim it before it can ricochet off him and cause a corner-kick that is cleared away by referee Jon Hanssen.
