Rangers F.C. vs Manchester United F.C. Lineups

United kick off their summer tour against Rangers on a wet, miserable afternoon in Edinburgh. Erik ten Hag has made numerous changes, with only Andre Onana remaining as part of his squad.

Leny Yoro makes his Red Devils debut, joined by Jadon Sancho. Additionally, Joshua Zirkzee features in the match. For fans looking forward to the rangers f.c. vs manchester united f.c. lineups, this game promises some exciting new talents on display.

Jefte

With just two pre-season matches remaining before the Premier League season begins, both sides will look to gain momentum ahead of their respective openers. It will serve as a good proving ground for young players on each team; Manchester United may use it to assess key players such as Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Aaron Wan-Bissaka while Rangers hope to improve upon their slow start and increase their chances of qualifying for Europa League qualification.

Erik ten Hag is expected to experiment with his lineup against Red Devils without both Clark Robertson and Joe Shaughnessy, with youngster Dermot Mee, Elyh Harrison, Sam Mather likely making appearances against their former employers. New signing Leny Yoro may see some action but is unlikely to receive much playing time on the pitch; other newcomers Clinton Nsiala, Connor Barron, Jefte could all feature as well as Hamza Igamane who could make his first impression against former employers Red Devils.

United seized control in the second period with two goals in three minutes after an uneventful first half. Maxi Oyedele provided an excellent pass into Joe Hugill’s path who made no mistake when shooting past Jack Butland for United’s opening goal.

Barron

Erik ten Hag was delighted by Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee’s progress since joining Manchester United, both starting against Rangers at Murrayfield with Yoro’s positioning in the back four and Zirkzee’s energy down the right flank respectively. The Dutchman expressed satisfaction at how these new signings had fit in.

Rangers fielded an impressive side against Ajax and should do the same here despite losing right-back James Tavernier to Trabzonspor and midfielder Nicolas Raskin to injury. Manager Philippe Clement will rely heavily on Jefte and Mohamed Diomande to add depth while defenders Connor Goldson and Clinton Nsiala should also feature prominently.

Harry Amass and Toby Collyer will likely get opportunities to demonstrate their talent on Sunday, while Connor McTominay, Ethan Evans and Tyrell Malacia may pick up small injuries that prevent them from playing but should still make their debuts under Clement during this fixture.

United were unimpressive against Rosenborg and are unlikely to win this match by an extensive margin. However, if they can improve their defensive organisation and start moving the ball faster quickly they could pose a stern test for Rangers at Murrayfield. Darren Fletcher should start in goal alongside Ander Herrera while Casemiro will play an essential role in midfield alongside Kieran Dowell and Jadon Sancho alongside Yoro Barron Lawrence Scott Wright Cyriel Dessers with subs such as Liam Kelly Lewis Budinauckas Ridvan Connor Goldson Rabbi Matondo Kieran Dowell Leon Balogun Ross McCausland Cole McKinnon Alex Lowry Danilo

Diomande

Diomande has quickly been welcomed by Rangers fans since arriving on loan from Liverpool. A quick midfielder with excellent passing range, Diomande makes a lasting impression whenever he plays and can pick out teammates at just the right spot on the pitch. Diomande can play on either wing with ease.

Philippe Clement of Rangers is expected to make at least four changes from his side that defeated Ross County in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final on Wednesday, keeping goalkeeper Jack Butland while including James Tavernier, John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Connor Barron among his starting lineup as well as forwards Jefte Janer, Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers in an expanded starting line-up.

Manchester United are seeking their inaugural win of the season after suffering their initial pre-season friendly loss against Rosenborg. Erik ten Hag’s side will look to secure victory against an Aberdeen side struggling under new manager Philippe Clement.

Both teams have met twice before, each club winning one game. Today at Murrayfield in Edinburgh at 4pm they will square off again!

Leny Yoro has made an excellent start to his Manchester United career and is already showing great defensive ability. Already showing bold aggression and making crucial tackles against Rangers. Meanwhile Casemiro was found kneeling down after overhitting a pass to Aaron Wan-Bissaka; although still learning his role confidently.

Lawrence

Rangers’ last meeting against Manchester United ended with them winning 1-0 at Hampden – their first away victory under Philippe Clement’s management, as well as helping to ease some tension following John Bennett’s resignation as chairman. On Saturday they will host their city rivals again at Murrayfield.

Both teams enter this match having made inconsistent starts to their pre-season, with Manchester United losing against Rosenborg while Rangers falling 2-1 against Ajax in Scotland. Erik ten Hag will be keen to get his side back on track as they take on Tony Docherty’s Red Devils and it should be an impressive showdown!

Leny Yoro could make his Scottish giants debut when the teenager is included among former Manchester United academy graduates Jefte and Barron in the centre of defence. Manchester United fans will hope to witness more of Jadon Sancho’s offensive flair following an extended lay-off due to injuries.

Amad Diallo and Antony may start for the Reds after missing their debut since returning from the World Cup, while Scott McTominay made strides toward recovery from his calf injury that sidelined him during Euro 2024.

Rangers’ predicted lineup (4-2-3-1) includes Butland; Sterling, Souttar, Davies and Yilmaz; Jefte, Barron and Dowell as well as Lawrence Matondo Dessers.

Matondo

Rangers will look to rebound after last week’s dissapointing draw against Benfica with three points from tonight’s Europa League home tie at Ibrox. As key players such as Connor Goldson, Todd Cantwell and Josh Zirkzee may leave in the summer transfer window, Philippe Clement will no doubt want his side to look their best and present a powerful lineup against Steaua Bucuresti tonight.

Rabbi Matondo will start on the right-hand side for Wales following his return from Hibernian training after missing their friendly against Hibs and should receive first preference over Ross McCausland who suffered an injury against Rosenborg.

Leny Yoro will likely feature as the central defender, with John Lundstram and Nico Raskin expected to form a solid partnership at midfield. Todd Cantwell, Rabbi Matondo, and Fashion Sakala should occupy positions just in front of them to make life difficult for Portuguese giants in possession.

Manchester United are actively exploring potential replacements for Jadon Sancho, who is expected to leave in a big-money deal this summer. Their focus has turned on Schalke youngster Matondo who has impressed during this Bundesliga campaign with an estimated release clause exceeding PS100m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown great admiration for Borussia Dortmund winger Joe Rodon, providing him with regular first-team starts this term. However, Manchester United are considering making an approach for Swansea City midfielder Joe Rodon who may come at much cheaper a fee. They see Rodon as low-risk purchase similar to Daniel James who joined for only PS15 million last summer from Swansea.
