The Netherlands will aim to build on their 1-1 draw against Hungary and claim second place in their UEFA Nations League group with victory. They’ll be buoyed by goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen’s return from injury as they look to exploit England’s weaknesses in this winner-takes-all matchup.
Verbruggen made six saves during the Netherlands’ 3-2 win against Turkey on Saturday, but his unluckiness with one goal allowed saw Erling Haaland score from its rebound. At just 24 years old, Brighton-born Verbruggen became only the third-youngest goalkeeper ever to make 10 or more international appearances.
Ronald Koeman has kept faith with his goalkeepers despite Frenkie de Jong’s injury, selecting Vergruggen over Mark Flekken of Brentford for this tournament. Although Moldovan’s late equaliser against Croatia provided them with some hope for elimination by Davor Suker’s second-half penalty kick, their final match against Croatia proved too much of a test and they ultimately succumbed.

Reijnders is an extremely impressive player in his own right. He can play an offensive or more defensive style depending on the situation; reading the game well and being precise with his passing are among his many talents; moving the ball quickly to create chances for himself and team-mates are among them as well.
Romania are exerting immense effort and forcing the Dutch back four to commit errors. Ianis Hagi attempted to beat Virgil Van Dijk with an inside cut but missed its target; Nicolae Stanciu also added width on the left with his cross aimed at Dennis Man, though its trajectory wasn’t precise due to an imprecise left leg swing by Dennis Man.
As the first half progresses, The Netherlands start to find their feet. Stefan de Vrij sets an energetic pace from centre back while Donyell Malen injects pace into their attack. Malen’s cross ricochets to Memphis Depay but due to Andrei Ratiu’s vital toenail toenail blocking Memphis Depay’s connection cleanly it flies over Florin Nita’s goal and out of play.

Frenkie de Jong and Teun Koopmeiners both dropped out, prompting late changes for the Dutch side. But despite having made changes they remain an effective team with quality players like Romelu Lukaku and Nicolae Stanciu in midfield to set a pacey tempo and create scoring chances; additional attack came through Cody Gakpo and Donyell Malen.
